ChatGPT Ads
Paid media in the channel that just opened in Brazil.
Headcore runs paid media on Google and Meta every day. Since 6 August 2026 ChatGPT Ads has been open to advertisers based in Brazil, a move Meio & Mensagem had been tracking since the local operation was being set up, and from now on it is part of our media scope.
The channel is new to everyone.
The skills it demands run across branding, performance and technology, and that is where our expertise sits.
R$ 40 per day
Minimum spend per campaign in Brazil.
3rd largest market
Brazil’s position in ChatGPT, according to OpenAI research reported by InfoMoney.
No incumbents
OpenAI states there are no performance benchmarks for the channel yet.
What is ChatGPT Ads?

According to OpenAI’s documentation, the format is a card with advertiser name, headline, text, image and a link to your site. For retail, OpenAI also describes an ad generated from a product feed, with price and rating.
OpenAI states that ads are clearly labelled as sponsored, that they run on systems separate from the model and that they do not influence ChatGPT’s answers.
Per OpenAI’s availability table, the minimum spend in Brazil is R$ 40 per day per campaign, with impression, click or conversion-optimised click objectives.
Ads in ChatGPT help advertisers reach users while they research, compare, and make decisions in one conversational experience.
OpenAI, Ads in ChatGPT: The Basics
What changes compared to Google and Meta?
You describe a territory of conversation.
The system decides whether your brand belongs in it.
No keywords
The buying unit is the context hint, a description of the conversation themes where your offer makes sense.
Your site enters the auction
OpenAI’s crawler reads the landing page to decide when your ad is relevant.
| Google Ads | Meta Ads | ChatGPT Ads | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Buying unit | Keyword | Profile and interest | Context hint, a conversation theme |
| Targeting | Search term | Age, gender, interest | Semantic, no demographics |
| What decides delivery | Bid and quality score | Bid and engagement signals | Bid weighted by relevance, including your site |
| Where it appears | Search results | Feed and stories | Below the answer, Free and Go plans |
What usually blocks delivery?
Almost nothing that breaks a campaign here shows up in the ads manager.
- Site blocking OpenAI’s crawler
- Ad pointing to the homepage
- Page with no topical depth
- Few creatives, little coverage
- Measurement lost in the redirect
A site blocked by robots.txt, WAF or Cloudflare simply does not serve. The campaign underdelivers, and the ads manager does not tell you why.
What we do differently?
Agencies deliver execution.
We bring systems engineering.
In this channel brand, site and media stopped being three separate projects. The three layers hand material to each other, and that is what we already run together.
Each layer feeds the next one. That chain is what most operations cannot assemble.
Teams that run these layers separately never close the loop. The context hint is born in the brand team, the page in the content team and the campaign in the media team, and none of the three can fix what the other one delivered.
We start with the brand kit and the site, not with the budget.
Before talking about investment, we check whether OpenAI’s crawler can read your pages. If it cannot, no budget fixes it.
How it works in practice?
- Audit
We check whether OpenAI’s crawler reaches your site, which pages sustain which themes and whether measurement survives your redirects. - Mapping
We gather your client’s pre-decision conversations and translate them into context hints, one theme per ad group. - Setup
We structure campaign, ad groups, creatives by angle, pixel and Conversions API. - Reading
We track which conversation territories convert and feed that back into brand, content and media.
What this channel still does not do?
There is no honest number to promise in this channel yet. OpenAI states there are still no performance benchmarks by industry or campaign type.
We prefer to say that before the proposal.
Free and Go only. Ads appear only to users on the Free and Go plans. Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu subscribers see no ads.
Sensitive topics are excluded. Ads are not eligible near conversations about personal health, mental health and politics. Political advertising is prohibited, and regulated verticals require eligibility review.
Custom lists need scale. Activation requires at least 25,000 matches, which leaves most B2B databases out.
The beta keeps changing. OpenAI warns that delivery, formats and tooling are still being adjusted.

Frequently asked questions
The answers come from OpenAI’s official documentation, verified on 13 August 2026.
How much does it cost to advertise on ChatGPT Ads in Brazil?
The minimum spend is R$ 40 per day per campaign, around R$ 1,200 per month. The available objectives are cost per thousand impressions, cost per click and conversion-optimised click.
Who sees ads on ChatGPT?
Only users on the Free and Go plans. Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu subscribers see no ads, and accounts identified as belonging to users under 18 are excluded as well.
Are there CPC or ROAS benchmarks for the channel?
No. OpenAI states in its documentation that there is still no performance reference by industry, advertiser or campaign type. Any number promised today is an estimate with no ground.
Does my site need any setup before advertising?
Yes. The OAI-AdsBot crawler must be able to read the landing page, the ad should point to the most relevant page rather than the homepage, and the oppref parameter must survive your redirects for the conversion to be recorded.
Does ChatGPT Ads replace Google and Meta?
No. Inventory is limited to the Free and Go plans, there is no demographic targeting and ads are not eligible near conversations about personal health, mental health and politics. It is an additional discovery and consideration channel.
Do ads influence the answers ChatGPT gives me?
“No. Ads do not influence ChatGPT’s responses. Ads are served in systems separate from our chat model, and advertisers have no ability to influence, rank, or alter ChatGPT’s responses. Ads are separate and clearly labeled.”
