The minimum to advertise on ChatGPT Ads in Brazil is R$40 per day per campaign, roughly R$1,200 a month. OpenAI itself recommends starting with a bid between US$3 and US$5 per click. At the exchange rate of 17 September 2026, that means the minimum budget buys between 47 and 78 clicks in a whole month. The number changes the conversation: at the floor, this is a test, not an acquisition channel.

Scope: every figure on this page is for the Brazilian market. The ChatGPT Ads spending floor changes by country — it is US$25 per day in the United States and MXN 150 in Mexico. If you advertise elsewhere, the number that applies is your market’s.

The floor is R$40 a day. What it buys is another matter.

The two numbers that define what the channel costs in Brazil come from OpenAI’s documentation: the R$40 daily floor per campaign and the recommended opening bid of US$3 to US$5 per click. They are usually read separately. Together they say something else.

Bid per clickIn reaisClicks per dayClicks per month
US$3R$15.462.6~78
US$5R$25.761.6~47

Between 47 and 78 clicks a month. If your site turns visitors into leads at 2%, that is one or two contacts. Not a bad result for a test; an insufficient one to treat as a channel. The gap between those two readings is what separates companies using the floor to learn from companies expecting the floor to pay the bills.

The three billing models

You choose among three objectives, and the objective defines how you are charged. The choice is not only about price: it defines what the system optimises delivery for.

ObjectiveYou pay forThe system seeksWhen it makes sense
CPMA thousand impressionsBroad reachA new brand, when the problem is that nobody knows you exist
CPCA valid clickPeople likely to engageThe standard entry point, and where to begin
oCPCA valid click, not the conversionClicks more likely to convertOnce there is conversion volume for the system to learn from
The three ChatGPT Ads campaign objectives and how each one charges.

Look at the oCPC row: you pay per click, not per conversion. The name suggests otherwise, and that is where a lot of budgets get lost. Bid logic changes completely in that mode, and it is the most expensive mistake on the channel — it is covered in the complete ChatGPT Ads manual.

What it takes for the channel to be a channel

Same arithmetic, real budgets. The range comes from the spread between a US$5 bid and a US$3 one.

Per dayPer monthClicks per monthWhat it allows
R$40R$1,20047 to 78Testing whether the channel delivers at all. Concludes nothing about conversion
R$100R$3,000116 to 194Reading creative and context hints with some confidence
R$200R$6,000233 to 388Volume for the system to learn and for variations to be compared
R$500R$15,000582 to 970Running it as a channel, with oCPC starting to make sense

The jump that matters is not from R$40 to R$100. It is the point where there is enough conversion for oCPC to have something to learn from. Before that, switching to oCPC only trades a bid you control for one you do not.

The total-budget trap

You can work with a daily budget or a total campaign budget. The daily one is a delivery target and drifts a little up and down. The total is a hard ceiling — and a hard ceiling does not control pace. If delivery picks up, it spends fast and the campaign ends before the date you planned, leaving you with a report covering half the period you wanted to read.

When ChatGPT Ads is not worth the money

Three situations where the honest answer is to wait. First: when server-side measurement is not working. The channel depends on a parameter many sites strip before recording it, and without that you pay per click and can attribute nothing. Second: when the site is not ready to receive the click — your own site takes part in the auction, and a slow or vague page makes delivery more expensive. Third: when the available budget is the floor and the expectation is return rather than learning.

None of the three is about the channel being good or bad. They are about being ready for it.

Frequently asked questions

What is the minimum spend for ChatGPT Ads in Brazil?

R$40 per day per campaign, roughly R$1,200 a month. For comparison, the minimum is US$25 per day in the United States and MXN 150 in Mexico. The figure is per campaign, not per account: two simultaneous campaigns double the floor.

How much does a click on ChatGPT Ads cost?

OpenAI recommends opening with a bid between US$3 and US$5 per click on CPC campaigns. The final price comes from the auction, not from the bid: the bid is the ceiling you accept paying. The manager shows a bid strength indicator that warns you when the chosen value may limit delivery.

Does oCPC mean I pay per conversion?

No. Under oCPC you still pay per valid click — what changes is that the system starts seeking clicks more likely to produce the chosen conversion. It is the most expensive confusion on the channel, because it completely changes how much it makes sense to bid.

Is R$1,200 a month enough to test the channel?

Enough to test, not enough to conclude. At that level you buy between 47 and 78 clicks a month, which shows whether there is delivery and whether the creative earns a click, but produces no conversion volume to judge return or to give oCPC anything to learn from.

Daily budget or total budget?

Daily, in most cases. The total budget is a hard ceiling that does not control pace: if delivery picks up, it spends fast and closes the campaign before the end of the planned period, leaving the read incomplete.

Sources and method note

The spending floors and the recommended bid range come from the channel’s official documentation, compiled and checked in the complete ChatGPT Ads manual. Conversions into reais are our own calculation, not a figure published by OpenAI, and use the Brazilian Central Bank PTAX selling rate of 17 September 2026: R$5.1521 per dollar. Exchange rates move; the arithmetic does not. Checked on 18 September 2026.
